Four more entries posted today.

The events modelled for 25th October 1661 are:

  • Samuel goes to Whitehall Palace. We are not told how or for what reason, so only a travelling event is modelled.
  • Samuel and Elizabeth dine with Jemima Montague at the Wardrobe.
  • Samuel and Elizabeth attend a performance of 'Love and Honour'.
  • Samuel and Elizabeth meet Elizabeth Pearse and Mrs. Clifford in the street.
  • Samuel and Elizabeth walk home via George Hunt's shop where Sam checks on the repairs to his lute.
  • Samuel chastises Will Hewer for showing a lack of respect to him and his wife.

For 26th October the modelled events are:

  • Henry Mordaunt and George Carteret visit William Penn and Samuel at the Navy Office.
  • Samuel and William Penn attend a performance of 'The Country Captain' at the Theatre Royal.
  • Samuel receives news of the death of Robert Slingsby. The death is modelled as one event and Samuel's receipt of the news as a separate event.
  • Samuel and William Penn drink at the Mitre.

For 27th October:

  • Samuel attends church at St. Olaves where he and Penn and Batten discuss Slingsby's death.
  • Samuel dines at home.
  • Samuel and Elizabeth attend church at St. Olaves.
  • Samuel and Elizabeth dine with William and Mary Wight.
  • Samuel and Elizabeth return home from the Wights'.

Finally, for 28th October:

  • Samuel works at the Navy Office.
  • Samuel dines at home.
  • Samuel retrieves his repaired lute from George Hunt, paying 29s. for it. This event is modelled as new annotations on the original repair event created for 9th October 1661. We add the end date for the repair, an occurrence recording the price as 29s., and add a participation association that has George Hunt playing the role of 'repairer'.
  • Samuel, Robert Ferrers and a friend of Ferrers' go to a performance of Argalus and Parthenia at the Theatre Royal.
  • The three men then go drinking at the Ringo Alehouse.
  • Samuel purchases a belt from a belt-maker that he sends for from the alehouse.

Two more entries posted today.

In the entry for 23rd October 1661, the following events are modelled:

  • Samuel breakfasts with William Penn and Daniel Tresswell at Tresswell's lodgings in Whitehall.
  • Samuel dines with William Penn at the Leg tavern in King Street.
  • Samuel and Penn take a coach to the Lord Privy Seal's home in Chelsea.
  • Samuel and Penn discuss business of Penn's with the Lord Privy Seal. Is this the same business as referred to in the entry for 21st October 1661 ? It is not clear from the entry, so I have not set an event subject for this event.
  • Samuel attends another performance of 'Love and Honour' at the Opera.
  • Samuel visits Robert Slingsby at his home.
  • Thomas Holliard calls on Robert Slingsby while Sam is there. It seems from the entry that Holliard might have offered medical advice to both Pepys and Slingsby, but there is nothing concrete to model.

In this day's entry, Samuel also mentions that the workers at the Navy Office have been invited to the Lord Mayor's dinner. At present I am not sure of the best way to model this. It could be a form of correspondence event, although the way it is described I think that it might be second-hand news received from Slingsby (who is Sam's boss at the Navy Office). I've flagged this as a TODO in the LTM topic map for today.

The entry for 24th October 1661 is modelled as follows:

  • Samuel works at the Navy Office.
  • Samuel dines with Peter Llewellyn. We are not told where (perhaps at the Pepys' home ?)
  • Samuel visits Robert Slingsby at his home.

Entries for 21st and 22nd October posted today.

Events modelled for 21st October:

  • Samuel takes a coach with Henry Moore to Sir John Robarte's house in Chelsea, but find him not at home.
  • Sam and Henry Moore have breakfast (cake and ale!) with John Pargiter at some unknown location.
  • Samuel goes to the Lord Privy Chambers and there has a discussion with William Penn about some business of Penn's.
  • Samuel dines at the Wardrobe.
  • Sam attends a performance of William Davenant's "Love and Honour" at the Opera in Lincolns Inn Fields.
  • Sam travels home and once there does some work before retiring.

For 22nd October, the following events are modelled:

  • Samuel works at the Navy Office.
  • A deputation from the Duke of York visits the Navy Office. To model this, I have created a new topic type for a group of people. We are not told who is in this particular group, nor if they specifically visit Samuel. For this reason I have simply modelled the event as the group visiting the Navy Office.
  • Samuel visits Robert Slingsby who is suffering from a fever. The illness is modelled as a separate event that is known to have started on or before this day.
  • Samuel visits his aunts Mary Wight and Sarah Norbury. It is not clear if he visits the pair separately or together. I have assumed the latter due to the family relationship between Wight and Norbury (they are sisters). It seems likely, therefore, that Sam went to visit Aunt Wight and found that Aunt Norbury was there too.
