In the entry for 1st October, the following events are modelled:

• Samuel and Elizabeth have a discussion about music and about singing lessons for Elizabeth.
• Theodore Goodgroome arrives and Samuel and Elizabeth have a singing lesson with him.
• Samuel works at the Navy Office
• Samuel works on his papers at home.
• Samuel has supper of bread and cheese.

For the 2nd October the following events are modelled:

• Samuel, Thomas Fenner and Margaret Kite spend the morning appraising Margaret's inheritance.
• The trio go to a cookshop on Bishopsgate Street for dinner.
• Samuel buys some sack wine for Thomas Fenner and Margaret Kite at an unamed tavern. The diary does not say if the three of them drank anything there.
• Samuel and Elizabeth take a coach to the Theatre Royal.
• A performance of John Webster's play 'Vittoria Corombona' or 'The White Devil' at the Theatre Royal.
• Samuel and Elizabeth take a coach home from the theatre.
